The soup was a gorgeous colour and the smoked ham was very high quality. Rachel waterlillied the tomatos in a 70’s kind of way and as ever the Apple pie and custard went down well.

We signed up quite a few people to casserole club and celebrated Rachels birthday and also Joans with cute baby pug cakes. Hellena gave Rachel a lovely picture she had made to say goodbye as Rachel is moving away. It must have taken ages and was really pretty. We were lucky to have Eva and Scarlet helping with lunch club today as school is out for them – they were really helpful and we loved having them.

Peter’s mystery prize was a magazine entitled “Rat”, all about keeping rats as pets. Not sure how chuffed the winner Ruth was with her mystery prize but she was amused. Very pleased to say that Des our chairman will be initiating the ‘chairman’s monthly mystery prize’ when we return in September.

We had a visit from Silverline talking about the services they provide and Beth came to collect the last few stories before she moves away. Victor brought in a beautiful photo album of old pictures – exquisitely presented and preserved of his family. It was lovely to sit and look through them.

Peter ‘forced’ some of us to celebrate Bastille day by spontaneously performing the Can-Can in front of everyone. It was hilarious and we even managed to get a few members to join in. Sometimes, spontaneous Can-Can dancing is the only answer.

Next week, adieus and au revoirs…
