Amazing food and lively company.

Welcome to the Hove Luncheon Club website.   We are a lunch club for older people in the area around Hove, Hangleton and Portslade.

Watch the videos below to get an idea of what the club is all about.

We meet every Tuesday during school term time at Hove Methodist Church between 12:30 and 2:30. A three course meal with door to door transport provided by Brighton and Hove Community Transport currently costs £2 thanks to the generosity of our funders and Hove Methodist Church.

We are a ‘not for profit’ community group that is managed by one worker and 18 volunteers and a management committee made up of a mixture of members and volunteers. We fund-raise to keep our costs low to make the club accessible to all. We use surplus food provided by the charity fareShare Brighton and Hove and have an after lunch programme that can be anything from music and singing to gardening to talks on hobbies. Above all we are a friendly and inclusive group.

Our volunteers won the award for ‘Volunteers of the Year 2016’ at the Argus Community Stars ceremony at the Theatre Royal in January 2017.

We are nearly at the end of the 2017 Thursday lunch club aimed at people with learning disabilities and older people. It has been an amazing 39 weeks and with the help of Comic Relief at Sussex Community Foundation and the fabulous team of 15 volunteers we have fed around 35-40 people every Thursday. Lots of organisations have supported us especially the Supported Employment Team from Brighton and Hove City Council, South Down Housing, Grace Eyre and Brighton Housing Trust. We are hoping to run more sessions from September 2017. Watch this space!
